Week 12 College Pick Em

Week 12 Picks

#16 Nebraska Cornhuskers (8-2) vs #17 Michigan Wolverines (8-2)
Back in 1997 Nebraska and Michigan split the National Title. That split National Title help lead to the Bowl Championship Series (BCS). Now we find those same two teams in the same division in the Big 10. Now these teams will play every week and will likely challenge for the Division Title every year. As for this game we will see a battle. Michigan has a much improved defense and will look to slow a Nebraska offense that wants to run the ball down your throat. Nebraska's defense struggles to play against mobile QBs and they face one of the most electric QBs in college football in Denard Robinson. Add in that the winner of this game could sneak into a BCS Title game if they win out, and this is a huge game.
Prediction: Nebraska 24 Michigan 21

#18 USC Trojans (8-2) vs #4 Oregon Ducks (9-1)
Despite all the drama USC has had to deal with, they have still been playing at a high level. Oregon has really bounced back after getting embarrassed by LSU opening weekend and knocked off previously unbeaten Stanford last weekend. Now they are looking to keep that momentum going and try and somehow get back into the National Title picture. While USC is treating these big games like their Bowl Games. Normally Oregon has a big advantage with their speed and athleticism, but USC still has the athletes and should match up well. However USC may be without their best offensive player Robert Woods who has been banged up. If USC will be looking to slow Oregon's uptempo attack. But Oregon must stop USC who has the talent to put up lots of points too. This game will be a lot closer than some think.
Prediction: USC 28 Oregon 38

#5 Oklahoma Sooners (8-1) vs Baylor Bears (6-3)
This is a match up of two high powered offensives that love to put points on the board. Oklahoma was on cruise control to the National Title Game before they lost to Texas Tech. Baylor and Robert Griffin was the toast of college football before they lost games to Kansas State, A&M, and Oklahoma State. A win over Oklahoma could really help to save their season. However that is easier said than done. Not only does Oklahoma have a high powered offense, they have a defense to match. If Baylor is going to win this game they are going to need RG3 to have the game of his life and their defense to get a few timely spots. Can it happen, yes. Will it???
Prediction: Oklahoma 42 Baylor 38

#19 Kansas State Wildcats (8-2) vs Texas Longhorns (6-3)
For whatever reason, Kansas State has had a lot of success against Texas. And most of the time they have done it with a lot less talent. This year KState has a much better team and they are looking to show that they are the 3rd best team in the Big 12. Texas on the other hand is young and very inexperienced. They are trying to salvage their season and turn it into some momentum for next year. If Texas wants to win this game they are going to have to slow down QB Colin Klein who is a do it all QB. Texas would need their young offense to grow up in a hurry and put up some points. But a big factor is that this game is in Austin....but KState has won there before.
Prediction: Kansas State 35 Texas 21

Virginia Cavaliers (7-3) vs Florida State Seminoles (7-3)
This is a match up of two 7-3 teams that have a lot to prove. Neither team has a shot at the ACC Title game, but that shouldn't prevent a good game from happening. Virginia Cavaliers are on their way back up after several seasons of no success. While Florida State is trying to prove that they belong in the Top 25. The difference in this game could go to Florida State who just has too many athletes for Virginia to handle. But the Cavaliers are a well coached team and are very disciplined.
Prediction: Virginia 28 Florida State 31

Current Standings
Last week I went 4-2, picking incorrectly on Iowa beating Michigan State and Boise State beating TCU. This brings my season totals 19-10. 66% isn't too shabby. But hopefully I can get my first perfect week. Let's hope.

Week 9 Pick Em

After taking a few weeks off from picking games, I'm back at it. So far this season I'm sporting an 8-4 record and looking to go perfecto this week.

Here are the picks for this week!

#9 Michigan State Spartans vs. #14 Nebraska Cornhuskers

Michigan State is coming off of three big victories and their biggest one beating Wisconsin last weekend. However the winner of this game will be in the drivers seat to represent the Leaders Division in the first ever Big 10 Championship Game. This game should be a physical game where both teams will look to pound the rock. If Nebraska can stop the run and have some success in the passing game they could get the upset. However Michigan State's stout run defense could be too much for the Huskers.
Prediction: Michigan State 24 Nebraska 21

#8 Oklahoma Sooners vs #15 Kansas State Wildcats
Many thought if the Sooners were going to lose a regular season game this year it would be to somebody like the Oklahoma State Cowboys, not Texas Tech. Now coming off a tough loss they have to travel to Manhattan Kansas and face off against an undefeated Kansas State team that is playing some very good football this year. As good as Kansas State has been this year, this isn't going to be their year. Oklahoma is just too talented and too angry after dropping the game last weekend. Don't be surprised if this game gets ugly.
Prediction: Oklahoma 35 Kansas State 17

Baylor Bears vs #4 Oklahoma State Cowboys
If you want to watch some good defense, don't watch this game. Both teams have wide open explosive attacks and this game should be full of highlights. Baylor is looking to show that their losses earlier in the season aren't who they really are, while Oklahoma State wants to show that they are worth their lofty ranking. This game should be close, but Oklahoma State has too much talent on both offense and defense and should edge out the Bears.
Prediction: Baylor 38 Oklahoma State 49

#6 Clemson Tigers vs Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets
Clemson is off to their best start in years and look to keep the ride going. However going to Georgia Tech isn't going to be easy. Georgia Tech was looking pretty formidable before losing two games in a row. Add in that it is very tough to defend Georgia Tech's triple option offense and we could see an upset here. However just like it will be hard for Clemson to stop Georgia Teach, it will be hard for Georgia Tech to slow down the explosive offense of Clemson.
Prediction: Clemson 38 Georgia Tech 31

#3 Stanford Cardinal vs USC Trojans

What could have been a preview of the Pac 12 Title Game, but with USC's NCAA violations they are not able to play in the game. However USC is treating this like their own bowl game. Stanford has picked up where they left off last year, having a balanced offensive attack and a tough physical defense. USC has a very talented QB in Matt Barkley and WR Robert Woods, but don't have a whole lot else. USC only has one loss so far, but they are going to have a tough time with Stanford here.

Prediction: Stanford 35 USC 14

College Football Pick Em (Week 6)

#15 Florida Gators at #1 LSU Tigers
Florida having their freshman backup QB starting today against the best defense in the nation. If Florida can win the turnover battle they might have a shot at this game, but it could get ugly.
Prediction: LSU 31 Florida 10

#2 Oklahoma Sooners vs #12 Texas Longhorns (in Dallas)
With the emergence of McCoy/Shipley 2.0 the Longhorns are on a roll this year. However Oklahoma is just too good of a team. Look for Landry Jones and Ryan Broyles to torch the injury depleted Longhorn secondary.
Prediction: Oklahoma 45 Texas 20

#17 Auburn Tigers at #10 Arkansas Razorbacks
Despite all the talent the Tigers lost they have managed to play very well this season and their only loss is to a top 10 ranked Clemson. Arkansas bounced back after a tough loss to Alabama and torched A&M. This will be a close game and look for a shootout. Arkansas needs to shut down the Auburn running game, while Auburn needs to slow down the Razorback passing attack. When push comes to shove, Auburn might have the more complete team.
Prediction: Auburn 34 Arkansas 31

Ohio State Buckeyes at #19 Nebraska Cornhuskers
This is going to be one ugly game. Without Terrelle Pryor, Dan Herron, DeVier Posey, and Mike Adams the Buckeye offense has been awful this season. But their defense has been very solid this year. The Huskers have been inconsistent on both sides of the ball and are coming off a big time beat down in Madison. The Huskers should win their first home game as a member of the B1G Ten, but these are games that they have dropped in previous years.
Prediction: Ohio State 14 Nebraska 24

Missouri Tigers at Kansas State Wildcats
Kansas State shocked many by knocking off Baylor last weekend and improve to a perfect 4-0. Missouri is still transitioning with a new QB in James Franklin. Kansas State has played well behind a good defense and dual threat QB Collin Klein.
Prediction: Missouri 28 Kansas State 31

Upset Pick
#23 Texas A&M Aggies at Texas Tech Red Raiders
The Aggies are coming off of two losses where they had the lead at halftime in each game. Last week Arkansas torched the Aggies threw the air. So seeing Texas Tech and their "Air Raid" attack isn't a welcome sign.
Prediction: A&M 35 Tech 42

Looking back to last week
Last week wasn't a great week here going 3-3 correctly picking Wisconsin over Nebraska, Clemson over VaTech, and Alabama over Florida. But Auburn's win over South Carolina, Arkansas over A&M and Texas beating Iowa State.
