AFC West Team Needs

Denver Broncos
1. Defensive Tackle
Even though the Broncos had a very good defense last year, they got hardly any production out of their defensive tackles. Brodrick Bunkley had a good season stopping the run, but he is now a New Orleans Saint. That leaves a huge hole at a razor thin position. Denver has to address this spot in the draft with a deep group of 1st round DTs, they'll more than likely take one at pick #25. Somebody like Devon Still, Jerel Worthy, or Michael Brockers would be perfect.

2. Offensive Line
Despite having some success at the end of the season running the ball, the offensive line has two big gaping holes. At center and left guard. Zane Beedles and JD Walton have been starters since their rookie year, but haven't become the players that former HC Josh McDaniels thought they'd be. Look for Denver to draft somebody to help. They could also move Orlando Franklin inside to guard if they have somebody else at RT.

3. Running Back
Willis McGahee had his best season of his career in terms of production, however he cannot be counted on as the every down back. Knowshon Moreno has ability, but is always injured. John Fox wants to run the ball, even with Peyton Manning now at QB. So look for the Broncos to spend a Day 2 pick on a running back that can help them out. Prospects they could go after could be a LeMichael James, Chris Polk, or Robert Turbin.

Kansas City Chiefs
1. Nose Tackle
Ever since the Chiefs moved to a 3-4 defense, they have never had that space eating nose tackle that you need to be successful. They brought in Kelly Gregg last year, but he didn't have the impact they thought they'd be getting. Add in that 6th round pick Jerrell Powe isn't developing and there is a big problem. Dontari Poe is a candidate at #11, but they could very well wait till Day 2 and get Alemeda Ta'amu or Josh Chapman.

2. Quarterback
I believe the Chiefs are starting to think that Matt Cassell isn't the QB they thought they were getting. When healthy he has been alright, but not the same QB he was in New England. Go figure. The Chiefs could be looking to draft a QB as an insurance policy in case Cassell's struggles continue. KC has been rumored to be interested in Ryan Tannehill, but I doubt they trade up for him. More than likely they'll spend a mid round pick on somebody like a Russell Wilson, Nick Foles, or Kirk Cousins.

3. Inside Linebacker
Linebacker isn't a huge need, but the Chiefs don't have too many glaring needs (maybe health). However the Chiefs are sure to draft an inside linebacker at some point. They are very high on Luke Kuechly and if he is available at #11 that could be their choice. He's a special talent and they have a need next to Derrick Johnson. If they don't get Kuechly they could wait till the 3rd round and take Audie Cole who would be a good fit in a 3-4 defense.

Oakland Raiders
1. Rush Linebacker
With Oakland moving to a 3-4 defense they are without anybody that can play the Rush Linebacker spot. They had Kamerion Wimbley, but they let him go and now he is a Titan. But without a pick in the first 4 rounds it will be extremely hard to find an impact player. A couple of late round guys that might be worth a flyer are Brandon Lindsey (Pittsburgh), Donte Paige-Moss (North Carolina) or Jack Crawford (Penn State).

2. Tight End
Two years ago the Raiders let Zach Miller go and he played well for the Seahawks. They signed Kevin Boss to a big contract, but he has now been cut. They don't have a player on the roster that is even considered a threat. They could go after Deangelo Peterson (LSU) or maybe David Paulson (Oregon).

3. Cornerback
With Stanford Routt now in Kansas City there isn't a whole lot of depth at this position. The Raiders did sign a couple of free agents, but non are more than depth moves. With no early picks it's doubtful that the Raiders will get an impact player, but they could take somebody who has a ton of potential and maybe they'll turn out to be very good. Maybe they take a risk and go for Cliff Harris (Oregon) who has some off the field issues, but a ton of talent.

San Diego Chargers
1. Guard
Kris Dielman has been one of the better guards in the league, but has retired. His shoes will be very big to fill, and the Chargers will likely look for somebody in the early rounds to do so. David DeCastro and Cordy Glenn will be options in the first roud, while Keleche Osemele, Kevin Zeitler, and Brandon Washington will be Day 2 possibilities.

2. Rush Linebacker
What was once a huge strength has pretty much become devoid of talent. Shaun Phillips is getting older and Larry English has been a bust. They did sign Jarrett Johnson, but he is considered to be more of a run defender than a pass rusher. They'll consider pass rushers at #18 like Courtney Upshaw, Whitney Mercilus, Chandler Jones, and Nick Perry. If they wait till the 2nd round they could go after guys like Bruce Irvin.

3. Cornerback
After a long career, Quentin Jammer's skills are declining and he is probably going to need to move to safety. Finding an eventual replacement would be a good idea. Depending on who is available the Chargers could go after Dre Kirkpatrick or Stephon Gilmore. Day 2 players could be Alfonzo Dennard, Jayron Hosley, Josh Robinson, and Brandon Boykin.

AFC North Team Needs

Baltimore Ravens
1. Left Guard
The Ravens were unable to resign Ben Grubbs and that leaves a huge hole along the left side. They tried to sign a couple of the top FAs, but were unsuccessful. Projected replacement is Jah Reid, but he's 6'7 and probably better suited to stay at RT. A quick solution might be to draft top center prospect Peter Konz. He can play LG his rookie season before taking over for Matt Birk after next year. If he's available, I think it will be hard for the Ravens to pass him up.

2. Rush Linebacker
Jarrett Johnson wasn't a big name, but losing him to the Chargers is a huge loss for the Ravens. Johnson was a very good run defender and a big part of their defense that they have to replace. As of right now Paul Krueger and possibly Sergio Kindle are slated to replace him, but neither can be counted on yet. Don't be surprised to see them take somebody to help out. Nick Perry would be a good fit at the end of round 1 and Ronnell Lewis would be a good fit in the 2nd round.

3. Wide Receiver
Even though they have one of the best possession receivers in Anquan Boldin and an emerging WR in Torrey Smith the Ravens still have needs. Mainly because that is all they have. Boldin is good, but his play is declining. They could really use another receiver that would allow them to move Boldin to the slot. Stephen Hill could be an option at the end of the 1st round. If not they could go after a Tommie Streeter in the 3rd.

Cincinnati Bengals
1. Guard
The Bengals lost Nate Livings is now a Cowboy and they brought in Travelle Wharton and Jacob Bell, but there is still a need for a top level guard. Cincinnati is a running team and really needs a road grader at guard. They would love for David DeCastro to fall to them, but if he's gone they'd gladly settle on Cordy Glenn with one of their two 1st round picks to fill at hole. Either way they are getting a top flight Guard prospect.

2. Cornerback
What was once a strength (Leon Hall and Jonathan Joseph) has now become a big question mark. Leon Hall's recovery from a torn ACL probably won't have him ready to go by the start of the season. They've added Jason Allen and Terrence Newman, but neither is considered a long term solution. Look for the Bengals to draft a CB early in this draft. Guys like Dre Kirkpatrick, Janoris Jenkins, and Stephon Gilmore very well could be Bengals.

3. #2 Wide Receiver
Cincinnati found a elite #1 receiver last year in AJ Green, but besides him there is less certainty. Jerome Simpson is alright, but isn't considered a top WR. Plus he has that whole drug arrest situation too. So in an effort to help the development of Andy Dalton the Bengals would be wise to add another receiver. Since they have an extra 1st round pick they could take somebody with either the #17 pick or #21. Michael Floyd would be a perfect fit, but he is likely to be gone by #17. Kendall Wright or Stephen Hill could be options at #21. If they wait till the 2nd round they could hope to get a Alshon Jeffery, Ruben Randle or maybe a Mahamad Sanu.

Cleveland Browns
1. Offensive Weapons
Colt McCoy may or may not be a NFL QB (I'll get into that later) but looking at their RBs and WRs and you have to notice that they don't have a whole lot around him. Peyton Hillis had one good year and then disappeared. Greg Little has emerged as their top WR, but he isn't a game breaker. If the Browns want their offense to be successful they have to bring in more talent. Luckily at #4 they'll have a chance to do that. They'll likely take either Trent Richardson (RB) or Justin Blackmon (WR). They also have the pick #22 and if they don't take Blackmon at #4 they could take Kendall Wright or Stephon Hill.

2. Quarterback
This one all depends on what Mike Holmgren believes he has in Colt McCoy. If he believes in McCoy then this isn't a need. If he doesn't, then it's a big need. McCoy looked good as a rookie coming in at the end of the season and managing the game. However last year he struggled. Chalk that up to his ability or the lack of talent around him, there is some uncertainty. If the Browns feel that they need a QB they are in a great spot to draft Ryan Tannehill at #4. Otherwise they could wait till #22 or the 2nd round to take a Brandon Weeden or somebody else.

3. Offensive Line
What was once a top flight line now has some major holes. Joe Thomas and Alex Mack are holding down their spots, but at the two guard spots and right tackle there are major questions. For the Browns who want to be a physical running team, they are going to need to fill those holes quickly. With having an extra 1st round pick the Browns are in a good spot to add another lineman. They'd love for David DeCastro to fall to them, but he's a goner by then. Cordy Glenn would be a good fit because he could play either RT or G. If they do pass on a lineman at #22 they could choose to go after somebody in the 2nd round. Keleche Osemele, Kevin Zeitler, or Mitchell Swartz could all be options.

Pittsburgh Steelers
1. Offensive Line
Every year this seems to be the #1 need. And it looks like the Steelers understand that. They took Maurkice Pouncey two years ago in the 1st and Marcus Gilbert in the 2nd. Those two are the only ones that seem to have spots locked down. Gilbert will be moving over to LT so that means they'll be looking to upgrade at Guard and Tackle. They'd love to take somebody with the 24th pick, but the value probably won't be there. Look for them to take somebody on Day 2.

2. Inside Linebacker
When the Steelers cut James Farrior that opened up a big hole in the middle of their defense. They do have Larry Foote, but he isn't starting material. They'll be looking for a starter to pair up next to Lawrence Timmons. A great player that they'll more than likely take is Dont'a Hightower out of Alabama. He's a great player for their scheme. He can stop the run and provide a solid pass rusher up the middle. If they are unable to get Hightower they could take Audie Cole in the 3rd round. He is basically a less talented by similar player as Hightower.

3. Nose Tackle
Not only is Casey Hampton on the wrong side of 30, but he is also coming off a season ending ACL injury. He'll likely start the season an the PUP list. Even with Hampton back there is still an issue of finding his replacement. Dontari Poe could be a candidate at #24 if he is still there, but likely they have to find somebody in another round. Alemeda Ta'amu or Josh Chapman could be options on Day 2

AFC South Team Needs

Houston Texans
1. Offensive Line
Starters Eric Winston (RT) and Mike Brisiel (RG) both left in free agency and now there is a huge hole along the right side of their offensive line. They didn't have the best depth (especially at OT) so they'll have to reload during the draft. Being a Zone Blocking Scheme they'll be looking for athletic lineman. Zebrie Sanders or Nate Potter could be Day 2 options.

2. Wide Receiver
Andre Johnson is one of the best WRs in the league. However besides them their is nothing. And if a team is able to slow Johnson it really makes it hard for their passing game to be successful. Luckily for them there should be an abundant amount of WRs for them to take in the 1st or 2nd round. But they'd love for Texas native Kendall Wright to be available at #26.

3. Nose Tackle
For Wade Phillips 3-4 defense to be successful, you don't need a huge space eating NT. However you do need somebody who can control the middle of the offensive line. Right now the Texans have Earl Mitchell playing that spot, but he would be better served at a DE spot. Behind him their isn't much depth either. So don't' be surprised for them to target somebody early to fill those shoes. Maybe somebody like Brandon Thompson in the 2nd round, or Mike Martin in the middle rounds.

Indianapolis Colts
1. Quarterback
After not having to worry about the QB spot for years, the Colts cut Peyton Manning. Mainly because they have the luxury of having the #1 pick with Andrew Luck coming out. It's no secret who the Colts are going to take with this pick. The talk of Robert Griffin going here is completely false.

2. Nose Tackle
Part of all the rebuilding job the Colts are doing involves them switching from a 4-3 Tampa 2 defense to a 3-4 scheme that wants giant run staffers up front. Right now the Colts don't have anybody that fits that. Especially in the middle. They have to draft somebody to fill this spot. Guys like Alemeda Ta'amu, Josh Chapman, or Akiem Hicks could be options.

3. Cornerback
Indianapolis hasn't had a good secondary since they won the Super Bowl. To make matter worse, one of their better corners Jacob Lacey signed with the Lions. New HC Chuck Pagano scheme requires corners who are good man to man cover guys. A guy like Jayron Hosley or Josh Robinson would be a good fit on Day 2 or maybe somebody like Conroy Black in the middle rounds.

Jacksonville Jaguars
1. Wide Receiver
Gabbert struggled last year and a big part of that was a lack of weapons to throw the ball to. Mike Thomas was their so called #1 WR, but on most teams he'd be a #3. Jacksonville signed Laurant Robinson, but he is probably a #2 WR at best. They Jags need a different making WR badly. Picking at #7 puts them in a bad position to get a WR. They'll miss out on Justin Blackmon and it's probably too early for Michael Floyd. They could just take Floyd or move back. But if they pass they'll have to hope for somebody like Rueben Randle or Alshon Jeffery be there in the 2nd round.

2. Defensive End
For years the Jags have been looking for help rushing the passer. This year is no different. Sure they resigned Jeremy Mincey, but they need help opposite of him. Aaron Kampman hasn't been healthy since they signed him and Matt Roth isn't a good fit in a 4-3. Jacksonville is very interested in Melvin Ingram and if they don't go WR at #7 they very well could take him. If not they'll have to wait till the 2nd round to get somebody like Nick Perry, Vinny Curry, or Andre Branch.

3. Cornerback
Even though they resigned Mathies and Middleton and even brought in Aaron Ross, the CB spot could use some more need blood. They would take Morris Claiborne if he somehow falls to them. But more realistically they'll get somebody in the middle rounds to hopefully push their current corners.

Tennessee Titans
1. Interior Offensive Line
Despite being a running team, the Titans offensive line isn't that great. Especially inside. Center Eugene Amano has really struggled and could move moved over to guard. The Titans did sign Steve Hutchinson, but he isn't considered a long term solution. The Titans would love to draft Peter Konz, but #20 could be too early for him. Cordy Glenn is an option too, but probably will be gone by then. Look for the Titans to find somebody on Day 2. Maybe somebody like Kevin Zeitler, Amini Silatolu, or Brandon Washington.

2. Cornerback
The Titans best corner Cortlon Finnegan has left and now is a Ram. That leaves them with only Jason McCourty and Alterraun Verner. However they will need to get a new starter to replace Finnegan because McCourty is no more than a backup. The Titans should be in a good position to grab a CB in the first round. Stephon Gilmore or Dre Kirkpatrick should be available at pick #20.

3. Defensive Tackle
Tennessee found a gem in Jurrell Casey, but don't have much help next to him. They look to target somebody who can penetrate at the 3 technique spot. If they don't go CB in the 1st they very well could go after the top DT in Jerel Worthy, Devon Still, or even Michael Brockers. If not there is still talent in the 2nd round with the likes of Derek Wolfe or Kendall Reyes.

AFC East Team Needs

Now that NFL Draft is less than two weeks away it's a great time to see what positions each team will be looking to fill come draft day. Today I'll start off with the AFC East.

Buffalo Bills

1. Left Tackle
After giving QB Ryan Fitzpatrick a big contract last year, they have to protect their investment. Last year's starter Demetrius Bell signed this off-season with the Eagles, so this makes this position their top priority. If Kalil starts to slip the Bills could look to move up, but more likely they'll have to settle for Riley Reiff or try and trade back for Cordy Glenn.

2. Outside Linebacker
Now that the Bills will be moving back to the 4-3 they need to regroup their linebacking core. They seem set at MLB with Kelvin Sheppard, but on the outside there are questions. Both Kirk Morrison and Nick Barnett could be improved upon. Look for them to target somebody in the middle rounds. Lavonte David, Zach Brown, and Keenan Robinson could all be options.

3. Wide Receiver
Stevie Johnson is a good WR, but besides him there isn't very much. In an effort to help improve this offense they could really stand to add a quality #2. If they don't take a LT at #10 they could go after Michael Floyd or go with somebody like Alshon Jeffery, Muhamad Sanu, or Rueben Randle in the 2nd round.

Miami Dolphins

1. Quarterback
Matt Moore played pretty well last year after taking over for an injuried Chad Henne. He very well could be the starter next year, but isn't the future. The Dolphins failed to bring in anybody this off-season, so they'll have to rely on the draft to get somebody. Right now they are the favorite to get Ryan Tannehill and could either take him at #8 or move up to ensure they get him.

2. Wide Receiver
Last year Brandon Marshall was their only starting worthy WR. Then the Dolphins go out and trade him to the Bears for two 3rd round picks. Now they are left with Devin Bess and Brian Hartline. Neither of them should be a NFL starter. If QB wasn't so big of a need they could take WR Michael Floyd at #8, but will likely have to take somebody in the 2nd or 3rd round.

3. Right Tackle
Whoever thought that Marco Columbo (who was cut by the Cowboys) being their starting RT should not have a job anymore. It's safe to say they need an upgrade. Miami signed Artis Hicks, but they still need more. Bobbie Massie would be a very good player here. They probably need to get him in the 2nd round if they want him.

New England Patriots

1. Pass Rusher
New England hasn't had a top pass rusher since Willie McGinnest. That was a long time ago. It's also the last time they won a Super Bowl. Now will they draft one? Probably not, but it's their top need. They have 2 picks in each of the first three rounds and will probably move up and down to get the players they want. They could move up to get a Courtney Upshaw who could be sliding. But players like Chandler Jones, Nick Perry, Whitney Mercilus, and Vinny Curry all fit their scheme.

2. Defensive End
Kyle Love and Gerrald Warren aren't starting DE's in this league anymore. They signed Jonathan Fanene, but they need much more. Luckily the end of the 1st round is chalk full of quality DT's that should be able to move to the 5 technique spot. Two guys to really watch out for are Micheal Brockers and Devon Still. Both are perfect fits.

3. Defensive Backs
It's a great story how the Patriots are able to move offensive players to defensive back. However it's not a great idea to rely on that too much. New England needs both cornerbacks and safeties. This safety class is pretty weak, but they should be able to get somebody at CB. Stephon Gilmore and Dre Kirkpatrick could be options in the 1st round, but Alfonzo Dennard in the 2nd round would be a great value.

New York Jets

1. Rush Linebacker
When Aaron Maybin is your best pass rusher, there is a big problem. This should be a top priority for the Jets in the draft. They are in a good spot in the middle of the first round to be able to get somebody. They'll likely get their choice of Courtney Upshaw, Chandler Jones, and Whitney Mercilus.

2. Offensive Line
D'Brickashaw Furgeson and Nick Mangold are very good, but the other three spots are in need of improvement. The Jets have brought in Tony Sparano to be their new OC and will be moving away from the Zone Blocking Scheme and moving towards a Power Man scheme. This means they don't have to be as picky for offensive lineman. Somebody like Keleche Osemele, Mitchell Schwartz, Bobby Massie, or Kevin Zeitler would all be options in the middle rounds.

3. Wide Receiver
I still don't know why the Jets decided to get rid of Braylon Edwards and Jericho Cotchery for Derrick Mason and Plaxico Burris. Both have been huge disappoints and won't be back. Now the Jets have to find somebody to complement Santonio Holmes. If they don't go OLB at #16 they could snatch up Michael Floyd. But more than likely will wait till the middle rounds. Rueben Randle or Alshon Jeffery would be a good complement to Holmes.

Teams that could trade up in the NFL Draft

Every year teams move up in the draft to get players they want. Most of the time it's after a player that they really want and don't think they can get at their current position. Sometimes it's to jump another team. Heck this year we already saw Washington trade up to the #2 spot so they could get Robert Griffin. But we all know that the Washington trade won't be the only one. Here is a look at 5 teams that very well could move up in the draft.

St. Louis Rams
Currently Pick: #6
Yes, the team that moved down from #2 to #6 in the RG3 trade could move back up. Why you may ask? Well they are hoping to land either Justin Blackmon or Morris Claiborne. Anything besides one of those two players will be a failure for the Rams. The problem they have is that Cleveland and Tampa Bay both could go with those players. This would be worst case scenario for the Rams because they'll be stuck with the top rated players available at areas that aren't strengths. Because of that the Rams could feel the need to move up to guarantee them either Blackmon or Claiborne.
Potential Trade Partner: Cleveland

Jacksonville Jaguars
Current Pick: #7
It's clear that Jacksonville needs help at WR. They signed Laurent Robinson, but he isn't close to a #1 caliber WR. Justin Blackmon and Michael Floyd are two receivers in this draft that can be #1 WRs. Blackmon would be the goal, but he's likely going to be gone by at worst #6. One pick ahead of them. The problem with Floyd is that he isn't worth the value at #7. Jacksonville could reach for Floyd, or trade down and take him. But they could do something they haven't done in a while. Move up to get the top WR in the draft and draft Justin Blackmon. They'd have to move up to #3 or #4 to get him, but that isn't so far.
Potential Trade Partner: Minnesota or Cleveland

Miami Dolphins
Current Pick: #8
The Dolphins haven't had a franchise QB since Dan Marino. Going into this off season it looked like they were primed and ready to get somebody. Instead they whiffed. They missed out on Peyton Manning and Matt Flynn. They also missed out on guys like Kyle Orton and Jason Campbell who took backup spots. Washington made the deal with St. Louis to move up and get the #2 spot. The only other thing the Dolphins could do is draft Ryan Tannehill. I don't see Tannehill as a top 10, let alone a 1st round pick. But QBs are overvalued and Tannehill's former college HC Mike Sherman is the Dolphins new OC. So look for them to go after him. Only thing that stands in their way is the potential for Cleveland to draft him. I don't see it, but you never know. And if Miami think they could they might have to do all they can to move up ahead of them to make sure they get the player they want.
Potential Trade Partner: Minnesota Vikings

Philadelphia Eagles
Current Pick: 15
Philly wasn't thought to do much trading up this year, but with the recent injury to Jason Peters, they are in desperate need for somebody at LT. They've hosted Marcus McNeill and Demetrius Bell, but only Bell would be a quality replacement. The problem is that Bell is being courted by many teams and it isn't a lock for him to the Eagles. If they are unable to get Bell they need to get somebody. That somebody should be Riley Reiff. Reiff fits the Eagles very well. He'd fit their Zone Blocking Scheme and is a good pass blocker. And we all know Andy Reid loves to pass block. Reiff would be able to fill in at LT and then move to RT (which is an area of need also) when Peters comes back the following year. To get Reiff they might have to move to #9 to get ahead of the Bills (if they lose Bell) or ahead of Arizona who is also looking for offensive line help.
Potential Trade Partner: Carolina and Seattle

Chicago Bears
Current Pick: #19
I don't see the Bears as a team that is necessarily looking to move up, but if David DeCastro falls a little bit, I could really see the Bears moving up to go after him. DeCastro is a physical beast who is an excellent run blocker. That is exactly what new OC Mike Tice wants out of his offense and run game. The Bears have some OK players at guard, but definitely not anybody that is considered a Pro Bowler. If DeCastro falls past the Cowboys at #14 the Bears could would have to move up ahead of the Jets, Bengals, and Chargers to get him. By adding him the Bears could really do wonders for an offensive line that has been below average for the past three years.
Potential Trade Partner: Philadelphia and New York Jets
