Heisman Watch (Week 13)

1. Andrew Luck QB Stanford
Last Week: 20/30 233 4 TDs 1 INT vs Notre Dame (28-14) Next Week: vs TBA
Comments: Andrew Luck's 4 TD passes helped him surpass John Elway's record for the most career TDs passes in Stanford's History. It wasn't the end that Luck wanted, but he sure did his best to try and impress voters. Luck has thrown for 3,170 yards this year and 35 TDs. Not too bad of a season considering that Luck doesn't have any elite weapons on offense and having a run based attack. Luck is clearly the best QB in the Nation and might be the best player this year overall. What helps Luck is that nobody else has really stood out on a consistent basis. And they may feel that Luck is the best and vote him the winner. He just has to hope that Griffin, Keenum, or Ball don't have great games next week.

2. Trent Richardson RB Alabama
Last Week: 27 carries 203 yards 1 receiving TD vs Auburn (42-14) Next Week: vs TBA
Comments:
Without the luxury of having the SEC Title Game to enhance his stock, Richardson had to do his best here in the Iron Bowl. Richardson sure did that. He rushed for 203 yards and added a receiving touchdown to boot. Richardson has enjoyed a very good season. It was memorable, but will it last in voters memory two full weeks? It's hard to say. But he has rushed for 1583 yards and 20 TDs and been the only consistent offense on one of the best teams in the Nation. Add in that Alabama will probably be playing in the National Title Game, that could only enhance his chances.

3. Robert Griffin QB Baylor
Last Week: 7/11 106 yards 1 TD 14 carries 62 yards 2 TDs vs Texas Tech (66-42) Next Week: vs Texas
Comments: After a great performance in their come from behind upset win over Oklahoma, Griffin was looking to continue his Heisman momentum into their game against Texas Tech. However Griffin didn't even make it to halftime. He took a huge hit and suffered an apparent concussion. RG3 wanted to go out and finish the game, but the doctors wouldn't let him. That ended his day, but at least it didn't' end his season. But he still does have one more game against a Texas team that has name recognition. But if RG3 wants to win this award. He needs to have a monster game and some memorable moments.

4. Case Keenum QB Houston
Last Week: 33/46 457 yards 5 TDs vs Tulsa (48-16) Next Week: vs Southern Miss
Comments: In their final regular season game before the Conference USA Championship the Cougars were in prime contention for a let down game. However Keenum had none of that. Against a good Tulsa team, Keenum threw for 457 yards and 5 TDs. Those stats only strengthen Keenem's chances at winning the award. But some will question the level of competition Keenum has played against. But one thing that Keenum has that Luck or Richardson doesn't have is a conference championship game. If Keenum can blow out a good Southern Miss team, he could sway a few voters. But it's a long shot at this point.

5. Monte Ball RB Wisconsin
Last Week: 25 carries 156 yards 4 TDs vs Penn State (45-7) Next Week: vs Michigan State
Comments: In a battle to see who goes to the Big 10 Title Game, it was Monte Ball and Wisconsin that manhandled the Nittany Lions and punched their ticket to the inaugural Big 10 Title Game. Ball was way too much for Penn State to handle. His 156 yards and 4 TDs adds to his total of 1622 yards and 29 TDs. But for some reason, he isn't getting any Heisman hype. But that could change if he dominates Michigan State in the Title game and gives the voters a lasting impression.

NCAA Top 25 (Week 12)

1. LSU Tigers (10-0) LW 1
You know it's a blowout when you are taking 4 straight kneels within the 10 yard line so you don't run it up on the opposing team. LSU took care of business against Ole Miss winning 52-3 and setting themselves up to face off against #3 Arkansas in a game that will decide who is the SEC West Champion. Arkansas is going to be able to put points up on LSU, but can the Tigers muster enough points?

2. Alabama Crimson Tide (10-1) LW 3
Alabama benefited more from what happened this weekend than anybody else. Right now they are sitting at the #2 spot in the BCS and all they have left is the Iron Bowl against an Auburn team that they should beat easily. LSU is ahead of them, but they have to play the SEC Title Game and a very tough Arkansas team. If Alabama gets by Auburn they should be sitting pretty and back into their 2nd National Title game in 3 years.

3. Arkansas Razorbacks (10-1) LW 7
The Arkansas Razorbacks might be the hottest team in college football right now. After losing a tough game to Alabama they haven't looked back and are now in a place where they can really throw the sport into a tailspin. This Friday they face off against an LSU team that is ranked #1 and is the only undefeated team in the country. A win over them could slide Arkansas into the SEC Title Game and possible National Title appearance.

4. Stanford Cardinal (9-1) LW 6
After a weekend full of upsets, the Cardinal almost lost their second straight game to long time rival Cal. However Stanford, behind Andrew Luck's 257 yards and 2 TDs, was able to win the "Big Game" 31-28 and stay at only 1 loss. But Stanford has a tough tough game against a Notre Dame that is playing pretty well. A victory over them should allow them to get their 2nd straight BCS game and should allow Andrew Luck to win a Heisman Trophy.

5. Oklahoma State Cowboys (10-1) LW 2
Just when you thought we'd see a Oklahoma State vs LSU match up in the National Title to see the Cowboys high powered offense against the Tiger's stingy defense, but Okie State had to go to Iowa State and lose 37-31. Gone are the dreams of the National Title. But what is worse is that Iowa State showed the blue print of how to slow their offense. Now the Cowboys has to face off against in state rival Oklahoma to determine who the Big 12 Champion will be. A win over the Sooners will get the Cowboys their 1st ever BCS Bowl, but not the one that they wanted.

6. Oregon Ducks (9-2) LW 4
Riding high off their win over Stanford, the Ducks just couldn't keep the momentum going and lost to USC on a missed FG at that would have sent the game into overtime. The loss ends Oregon's chance of getting into the National Title Game. However they still will be heading to the Pac 12 Title Game and more than likely another Rose Bowl.

7. Oklahoma Sooners (8-2) LW 5
Big Game Bob strikes again. With a tie game and less than a minute to go, Baylor had the ball and was content to go to overtime. But Stoops called a time out and Baylor decided to go after a score. Baylor was able to capitalize and get a late TD pass that won them the game. This loss is huge because Oklahoma was in prime contention to play for a National Title if they were to upset Oklahoma state. But now they are in jeopardy to even make a BCS Game.

8. Boise State Broncos (9-1) LW 9
It's pretty sad that when three teams ahead of you lose games, you can't overtake them. But that's why it is so crucial for Boise State to go undefeated. This week they took care of business against a quality San Diego State team winning 52-3, with games against Wyoming and New Mexico remaining. However neither of those teams should pose a threat and won't do anything for Boise in the BCS standings. This is why their TCU loss is so huge. They'll like land in the Las Vegas Bowl.

9. Virginia Tech Hokies (10-1) LW 10
After struggling through most of the season, QB Logan Thomas is really starting to play well and that is really doing wonders for the Hokie offense. Thomas didn't have eye popping stats, but he threw for 195 yards 2 TDs and 0 INTs. Heck he even rushed for a TD. Thomas' strong play can't come at a better time because the Hokies have big game against rival Virginia to see who goes to the ACC Title game to face Clemson. Wins over both teams would give the Hokies their second straight ACC Championship.

10. Michigan State Spartans (9-2) LW 12
After a brief hiccup against Nebraska, the Spartans have been playing some very good football. Their 55-3 domination of Indiana and Nebraska's loss to Michigan clinched the Leaders Division and secured their position in the first ever Big 10 Championship Game against either Penn State or Wisconsin. And a win there would get the Spartans to their first Rose Bowl since 1988. But they can't look past Northwestern who could knock off any team any week.

11. Wisconsin Badgers (9-2) LW 11
Down 17 points in the first half, the Badgers rallied back to score 28 unanswered points to win the game. Monte Ball continues to have an amazing season, rushing for 224 yards and 2 TDs in against Illinois. Those 2 TDs brings Ball's total to 30 rushing TDs, but you have to wonder. Why isn't he getting any Heisman hype? But this win also sets up a huge showdown between them and Penn State where the winner goes on to face Michigan State in Indianapolis. I'm sure Wisconsin is looking to get some revenge on Michigan State for their Hail Mary victory.

12. Houston Cougars (11-0) LW 13
It's too bad that the Houston/SMU game was more remembered for Lee Corso dropping the F-Bomb, and not for Houston extending their unbeaten streak to 11. Case Keenum had another good day. Throwing for 318 yards and 2 TDs. He even ran one in too. Keenum also broke Graham Harrell's record for the most completions in NCAA history. Their last two games of teh season should tell us how good of a team Houston really is. They'll face off against Tulsa and Southern Miss who are very tough opponents. And if Houston wants to make it to their first BCS Game in school history, they'll have to win both of those games.

13. Georgia Bulldogs (9-2) LW 14
Georgia's 19-10 victory over Kentucky clinches the SEC East Title and puts them into the Championship Game. Quite the accomplishment for a team that many considered dead in the water to start the season. QB Aaron Murray has really done a great job of leading this offense without a dependable running back or a big time receiver like they had last year with AJ Green.

14. Clemson Tigers (9-2) LW 8
Turnovers cost the Tigers another one. It is too hard to win games in college football, especially when you turn the ball over 4 times. It's too bad because Clemson was looking to be a force this year. But too many slow starts and turnovers cost them their perfect season. However they still have a game against in state rival South Carolina and the ACC Title Game. So a BCS Bowl isn't out of the question, but to beat VaTech again they are going to have to get some consistent play out of QB Tajh Boyd.

15. Michigan Wolverines (9-2) LW 17
Michigan did a great job of exploiting Nebraska's weaknesses on defense in route to a 45-17 win. Denard Robinson was his old self rushing for 2 TDs and throwing for 2 more. But what is even more amazing was that the Michigan defense was able to contain Rex Burkhead and Taylor Martinez. The Wolverines won't be able to go to the Big 10 Championship Game, but if they beat hated rival Ohio State, they could sneak their way into a BCS Bowl.

16. USC Trojans (9-2) LW 18
The job that Lane Kiffen has done this year is nothing short of amazing. USC con't go to a bowl game or the Pac 12 Title Game, and they are also 15 scholarships down. It would have been easy for USC to pack in the season and not put up much effort. But they have worked hard all year and it showed in their upset win over Oregon. Matt Barkley threw for 323 yards and 4 TDs despite not having a 100% Robert Woods. It's also too bad they can't play in the Pac 12 Title game, because they could beat Stanford if they play again.

17. South Carolina Gamecocks (8-2) LW 15
Normally the Citadel doesn't pose much of a threat to BCS schools. But only down 7 points at halftime, they were giving South Carolina all they could handle. However South Carolina kicked it into gear and ended up winning 41-20. But with Georgia's win the Gamecocks are eliminated from the SEC Title Game and don't have a shot at going to a BCS Bowl Game. However if they can knock off in state rival Clemson they have a shot at one of the SEC's to bowl games. Not too bad for all the injuries they have suffered this year.

18. Kansas State Wildcats (9-2) LW 19
Colin Klein didn't have his usual huge numbers, but his 2 TDs where enough for the Wildcats 17-13 victory over Texas. This win was huge for KState because if basically assures the Wildcats of a 10-2 regular season record and a probably Cotton Bowl appearance. All that is left is a game against Iowa State in "Farmagedon" which should be an easy win for them. This is all coming from a program that was at the bottom of the barrel in the Big 12 a couple of years ago. Bill Snyder deserves coach of the year consideration for sure.

19. TCU Horned Frogs (9-2) LW 21
TCU's 34-10 win wasn't anything amazing, but TCU took care of business. Waymon James rushed for 107 yards, Casey Pachall was very efficient, and Tank Carder returned an interception 68 yards for a touchdown. TCU only has UNLV left and should cruise to the Moutain West Conference Title before they move to the Big 12 next year. And after starting the season with losses to Baylor and SMU they have rebounded very nicely.

20. Penn State Nittany Lions (9-2) LW 22
Not too many people gave Penn State much of a chance against Ohio State. And why would they? They just dropped a game against Nebraska and was still dealing with all the distractions with the Peterno/Sandusky travesty. However the Penn State football team came together and beat Ohio state 20-14. This weekend they face off against Wisconsin and whoever wins this game will win the Leaders Division and face off against Michigan State in the Big 10 Title Game. And you know the Nittany Lions want to win the award for their former coach.

21. Baylor Bears (7-3) LW NR
Baylor's 45-38 win over Oklahoma was their first win over the Sooners in school history. Robert Griffin continues to play at a high level and is carrying the Bears to their best season they've had in a long time. Baylor finishes the season with Texas Tech and Texas. Both games are winnable. And if Baylor can win those two games they might be able to make it to a good bowl game which is a great accomplishments for a team that will be going back to a bowl game for the second straight year.

22. Notre Dame Fighting Irish (8-3) LW 24
Notre Dame has really bounced back after a couple of early season tough losses. this past weekend they were able to hold off a pesky Boston College team and now get ready for a showdown with cross country rival Stanford. A win against Stanford would really do wonders for this program as they are trying to get back to the National Power that they feel they are. However they'll have to do it without RB Jonas Gray who has really meant a lot ot their running game.

23. West Virginia Mountaineers (7-3) LW 23
After taking care of business against Cincinnati, West Virginia enjoyed a weekend off before their stretch run to end the season. They have to win games against Pittsburgh and at South Florida to help them win the Big East and get back to the BCS. But if they slip they have Rutgers right behind them, waiting to take over.

24. Nebraska Cornhuskers (8-3) LW 16
It was a pretty ugly loss for Nebraska in their first trip to the "Big House" as a member of the Big 10 Conference. Michigan won a 45-17 beat down on the Huskers and made Nebraska's defense look pretty bad. The Huskers were considered to be the cream of the Leaders crop after their win against Michigan State, but have dropped two ugly games since. Head Coach Bo Pelini needs to get things figured out because Iowa is no push over.

25. Virginia Cavaliers (8-3) LW NR
What a turnaround the Cavaliers been. Under Al Groh, Virginia on a regular basis sent players to the NFL but could never show for it in the win column. Now in Mike London's 2nd year as Head Coach he has turned the Cavaliers into a ACC contender. This past weekend they knocked off previously ranked Florida State to improve their record 8-3. And a win over Virginia Tech this weekend would put them into the ACC Title Game against Clemson.

Dropped From Rankings: Southern Miss, Cincinnati Bearcats

Heisman Watch (Week 12)

1. Andrew Luck QB Stanford
Last Week: 20/30 257 2 TDs 1 INT vs Cal (31-28) Next Week: vs Notre Dame
Comments: I think it's pretty ridiculous that many people were dropping Luck behind the likes of Brandon Weeden after Stanford's loss to Oregon. Sure Luck had 3 turnovers, but if his wide receivers didn't let passes drop off their hands then he might not have had those picks. Luck is clearly the best player on the Stanford team and he doesn't have the same weapons that other teams have. Plus his offense is more of a ground attack. The Heisman Trophy is suppose to go to the best player in college football and this year Luck is still the best player.

2. Trent Richardson RB Alabama
Last Week: 32 carries 175 yards 2 TDs 1 receiving TD vs Georgia Southern (45-21) Next Week: @ Auburn
Comments:
With all the uncertainty going on in the Heisman race, Trent Richardson didn't want you to forget about him. Even though it was against a FCS opponent, Richardson had a ball game. He rushed for 175 yards and 2 TDs and added a TD catch for good measures. Richardson has the stats for the award, but that loss against LSU is really hurting him. But a huge game against rival Auburn in the Iron Bowl he could make his stake for the award. But no SEC Title Game is still going to hurt him.

3. Robert Griffin QB Baylor
Last Week: 21/34 479 4 TDs vs Oklahoma (45-38) Next Week: vs Texas Tech
Comments: After a spectacular victory over TCU early in the season, RG3 became and instant Heisman contender. However over the course of the season Griffin put up big numbers, but Baylor lost three games and he seemed to fall out of the race. But with a huge win over Oklahoma this weekend, Griffin is now the toast of the Heisman Race. Now I'm not ready to vault him way up the rankings, but he is now back into contention. But he'll need huge games and wins over Texas and Texas Tech and some help from others ahead of him if he wants to win the award.

4. Brandon Weeden QB Oklahoma State
Last Week: 42/58 476 3 TDs 3 INTs vs Iowa State (31-37) Next Week: vs Oklahoma
Comments: Just when you thought that Weeden was making a late charge at the Heisman Trophy and a possible National Title, it all falls apart. Many thought that if they lost a game it would be to in state rival Oklahoma, not lowly Iowa State. But on Friday night, the Cyclones had a perfect game plan for the Cowboys and took advantage with a double OT win. Weeden played well for the most part, but his 3 interceptions cost his team the victory. Weeden isn't out of the race, but he'll need a big win over Oklahoma and hope that Luck and Richardson falter too. But it's not looking too good for him.

5. Case Keenum QB Houston
Last Week: 30/45 318 yards 1 TD 1 rushing TD vs SMU (37-7) Next Week: @ Tulsa
Comments: It was the perfect storm. College Gameday was on campus and the Cougars had the nations attention. The good thing is, they won. However many people expected to see the video game numbers that Keenum had been putting up all season long. Instead Keenum threw for 318 and had only 1 passing TD. He did set the record for most completions, but he didn't really wow anybody. Keenum does have two more shots at getting some more attention, but they'll probably be their two toughest opponents. Tulsa has three losses but they are to Boise State, Oklahoma State and Oklahoma. If Keenum can put up some big numbers there he could slide up the rankings.

6. Taylor Wilson QB Arkansas
Last Week: 32/43 365 3 TDs vs Mississippi State (44-17) Next Week: @ LSU
Comments: Nobody would have been surprised if Arkansas would have came out sluggish in this game with a huge match up against LSU coming up next week. But unlike so many others Taylor Wilson and the Razorbacks came out firing and took care of business. Wilson's 365 yards and 3 TDs were another big game this season. Wilson wasn't considered to be much of a Heisman contender before the season, but if he can lead Arkansas to a win over LSU and then maybe a win in the SEC Title Game, he'll find himself in New York with a shot at the trophy.

Week 12 College Pick Em

Week 12 Picks

#16 Nebraska Cornhuskers (8-2) vs #17 Michigan Wolverines (8-2)
Back in 1997 Nebraska and Michigan split the National Title. That split National Title help lead to the Bowl Championship Series (BCS). Now we find those same two teams in the same division in the Big 10. Now these teams will play every week and will likely challenge for the Division Title every year. As for this game we will see a battle. Michigan has a much improved defense and will look to slow a Nebraska offense that wants to run the ball down your throat. Nebraska's defense struggles to play against mobile QBs and they face one of the most electric QBs in college football in Denard Robinson. Add in that the winner of this game could sneak into a BCS Title game if they win out, and this is a huge game.
Prediction: Nebraska 24 Michigan 21

#18 USC Trojans (8-2) vs #4 Oregon Ducks (9-1)
Despite all the drama USC has had to deal with, they have still been playing at a high level. Oregon has really bounced back after getting embarrassed by LSU opening weekend and knocked off previously unbeaten Stanford last weekend. Now they are looking to keep that momentum going and try and somehow get back into the National Title picture. While USC is treating these big games like their Bowl Games. Normally Oregon has a big advantage with their speed and athleticism, but USC still has the athletes and should match up well. However USC may be without their best offensive player Robert Woods who has been banged up. If USC will be looking to slow Oregon's uptempo attack. But Oregon must stop USC who has the talent to put up lots of points too. This game will be a lot closer than some think.
Prediction: USC 28 Oregon 38

#5 Oklahoma Sooners (8-1) vs Baylor Bears (6-3)
This is a match up of two high powered offensives that love to put points on the board. Oklahoma was on cruise control to the National Title Game before they lost to Texas Tech. Baylor and Robert Griffin was the toast of college football before they lost games to Kansas State, A&M, and Oklahoma State. A win over Oklahoma could really help to save their season. However that is easier said than done. Not only does Oklahoma have a high powered offense, they have a defense to match. If Baylor is going to win this game they are going to need RG3 to have the game of his life and their defense to get a few timely spots. Can it happen, yes. Will it???
Prediction: Oklahoma 42 Baylor 38

#19 Kansas State Wildcats (8-2) vs Texas Longhorns (6-3)
For whatever reason, Kansas State has had a lot of success against Texas. And most of the time they have done it with a lot less talent. This year KState has a much better team and they are looking to show that they are the 3rd best team in the Big 12. Texas on the other hand is young and very inexperienced. They are trying to salvage their season and turn it into some momentum for next year. If Texas wants to win this game they are going to have to slow down QB Colin Klein who is a do it all QB. Texas would need their young offense to grow up in a hurry and put up some points. But a big factor is that this game is in Austin....but KState has won there before.
Prediction: Kansas State 35 Texas 21

Virginia Cavaliers (7-3) vs Florida State Seminoles (7-3)
This is a match up of two 7-3 teams that have a lot to prove. Neither team has a shot at the ACC Title game, but that shouldn't prevent a good game from happening. Virginia Cavaliers are on their way back up after several seasons of no success. While Florida State is trying to prove that they belong in the Top 25. The difference in this game could go to Florida State who just has too many athletes for Virginia to handle. But the Cavaliers are a well coached team and are very disciplined.
Prediction: Virginia 28 Florida State 31

Current Standings
Last week I went 4-2, picking incorrectly on Iowa beating Michigan State and Boise State beating TCU. This brings my season totals 19-10. 66% isn't too shabby. But hopefully I can get my first perfect week. Let's hope.

NFL Power Rankings (Week 10)

1. Green Bay Packers (9-0) LW 1
It wasn't a matter of if the Packers were going to win against Minnesota, but by how much. Green Bay continues to play well and their match up against Detroit on Thanksgiving should be one heck of a game.

2. San Francisco 49ers (8-1) LW 3
The 49ers continue to roll on and knocked off a Giants team that had a ton of momentum heading into this game. But San Fran has to hope that Frank Gore's injury isn't too serious.

3. Pittsburgh Steelers (7-3) LW 2
Beating the Bengals on the road was a huge win for the Steelers. Man, you don't get to say that too often.

4. New Orleans Saints (7-3) LW 9
It took overtime, but the Saints were able to beat the Falcons on the road and get some room in the standings. New Orleans seems to be getting much better as the season goes forward.

5. New England Patriots (6-3) LW 5
Go figure, when you get a good pass rush it hides a lot of weaknesses you have in the secondary. Andre Carter came out of nowhere to terrorize Mark Sanchez. Now if they can keep that up they could do some damage.

6. Chicago Bears (6-3) LW 14
I still don't know why punters keep kicking the ball to Devin Hester? Why? Kicking it out of bounds is easy, you would think.

7. Baltimore Ravens (6-3) LW 7
How can you go from sweeping the Steelers, to losing to the Cardinals? Somethings just don't make sense.

8. Detroit Lions (6-3) LW 4
Not having a running game has really hurt the Lions. Matt Stafford cannot throw the ball 63 times and expect to win. Especially with a broken finger.

9. Houston Texans (7-3) LW 13
Houston looks like one of the best teams in the AFC right now, but losing QB Matt Schaub to the season could doom the Texans. Their only hope is that their strong running game can carry them.

10. Cincinnati Bengals (6-3) LW 8
It's hard to beat Pittsburgh anyways, but doing so with a rookie QB and a rookie #1 WR doesn't make it easier. But the Bengals have a bright future ahead of them.

11. New York Giants (6-3) LW 10
New York had a chance to take a big lead in the division, but dropping a game to Seattle is inexcusable. Luckily Philly still lost.

12. Dallas Cowboys (5-4) LW 23
The emergence of DeMarco Murray has really breathed some life into this offense and it has really helped take some pressure off of Tony Romo, which is always a good thing.

13. New York Jets (5-4) LW 12
Mark Sanchez is going to have nightmares of Andre Carter in his dreams tonight. Completely falling apart in the 2nd half doesn't help either.

14. Tennessee Titans (5-4) LW 19
There was a Chris Johnson sighting in Charlotte today. Johnson rushing for 130 yards and a TD has to be a great sight for Titans fans.

15. Buffalo Bills (5-4) LW 12
Buffalo had a great run, but it looks like they are showing their true colors. The defense is still not good when they don't get turnovers and the offensive line isn't good.

16. Oakland Raiders (5-4) LW 16
Their big win over San Diego on Thursday night was huge for the Raiders in their effort to win the division. Add in that Carson Palmer is starting to get his groove back and they could be playoff bound.

17. Atlanta Falcons (5-4) LW 15
Last year Atlanta had the best record in the NFL and were looking to be Super Bowl bound. Now with their loss to New Orleans they have 4 losses and probably won't make the playoffs.

18. Denver Broncos (4-5) LW 27
Tim Tebow only threw 8 passes (completed only 2) and they still won. How does this happen? Oh wait, they played the Chiefs.

19. San Diego Chargers (4-5) LW 11
San Diego is a mess. They are falling apart and this could cause some major shake ups to the coaching staff and roster.

20. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (4-5) LW 17
The Bucs looked like a young team on the rise, but they have been blown out several times this year. But it's a young team, so that can't be a huge surprise.

21. Arizona Cardinals (3-6) LW 29
Could the Cardinals actually look better with John Skelton running the show instead of Kevin Kolb?

22. Philadelphia Eagles (3-6) LW 18
You can't be surprised with all the trouble the Eagles are having. They threw a bunch of players together and even made their offensive line coach their D Coordinator. This team more than anything really could have used OTA's and a full off-season.

23. Jacksonville Jaguars (3-6) LW 26
The Jags got a big win (for them) in a win over Indy and could make it two in a row with Cleveland next on the schedule. If they could just get a good WR their offense could be a lot better.

24. Kansas City Chiefs (4-5) LW 20
Well after a 4 game winning streak, Kansas City is finally back to earth. What makes matters worse is that QB Matt Cassell is hurt. But the way he was playing it might not make a difference.

25. Seattle Seahawks (3-6) LW 28
Not too many people gave the Seahawks much of a chance with Baltimore coming to town. But in this crazy NFL season, you can't be surprised that they won.

26. Cleveland Browns (3-6) LW 21
You know its bad when your kicker who has been your best offensive player misses a chip shot FG that would have won the game. They had so much hope going in to this season.

27. Washington Redskins (3-6) LW 22
Here is another team that is finally playing to their talent. Their QB situation is horrible and it is finally showing.

28. Miami Dolphins (2-7) LW 32
Somebody tell the Dolphins that they aren't suppose to be winning if they want Andrew Luck. But the Dolphins seem like a different team and Reggie Bush is resurrecting his career. Get them a QB and they could be a solid team.

29. Minnesota Vikings (2-7) LW 24
Despite not winning games, the Vikings aren't playing too bad and Christian Ponder is showing doubters that he does have what it takes to be an NFL QB. Luckily since their record won't be the greatest, he'll get some quality help come draft time.

30. St. Louis Rams (2-7) LW 30
The Rams are probably the only team that doesn't want to win the Andrew Luck sweepstakes and they are doing their best to get out of that situation. But St. Louis is getting healthy and we are seeing some of what they showed last year.

31. Carolina Panthers (2-7) LW 25
After their start to the season I thought that Panther could rattle off 5 to 6 wins, but they haven't been able to do so. But on the bright side we might see Cam Newton throwing to Justin Blackmon next year.

32. Indianapolis Colts (0-10) LW 31
It's all but offical, the Colts will have the #1 pick and the first crack at Andrew Luck. The real question is whether they take him, trade Manning, or trade the pick.

NCAA Top 25 (Week 11)

1. LSU Tigers (10-0) LW 1
This was perfect scheduling for LSU. After their huge victory over Alabama, they face off against Western Kentucky. Why not play a lowly Sun Belt team after an emotional victory over the Crimson Tide. Even if they would still be thinking of the Alabama game, they would still have an easy road to a win. So their 42-9 win wasn't a surprise. It also helps that they face Ole Miss this week before facing off against an Arkansas team that they can't take lightly.

2. Oklahoma State Cowboys (10-0) LW 2
What a blowout that was. The Cowboys were facing off against a Texas Tech team that upset Oklahoma at Oklahoma. But the Cowboys wasted little time and jumped out to an early 35-0 half time lead. Okie State looks for real and only Oklahoma stands in their way of a possible National Title Game appearance.

3. Alabama Crimson Tide (9-1) LW 4
After their tough loss to LSU, the Crimson Tide bounced back and took care of a Mississippi State team that is a lot better than their record indicates. Alabama was lead by RB Trent Richardson who had 127 yards rushing ad a TD. Just because Alabama lost to LSU doesn't mean that they are out of it. If they win out and LSU loses to Arkansas, it would be the Crimson Tide who hold the tie breaker and would represent the SEC West in the SEC Title Game and a win would sent them to the National Title.

4.
Oregon Ducks (9-1) LW 7
For most of the season the Ducks have flown under the radar. Not anymore. With their 53-30 win over Stanford the Ducks are right back in forefront. They wins over USC and Oregon State would put them into the Pac 12 Championship Game and if a couple of teams ahead of them lose, we could see them back in the National Title Game again. It also helps that QB Darron Thomas and RB LeMichael James are getting healthy. Don't forget about these Ducks.

5. Oklahoma Sooners (8-1) LW 6

After their convincing win over SEC bound Texas A&M, the Sooners got a much needed weekend off. This comes at a good time because Oklahoma can figure out how they can replace WR Ryan Broyles who tore his ACL against A&M. Now the Sooners face off against a Baylor team that has lost a few games since their great start. But the Sooners cannot take QB Robert Griffin lightly and will need a good defensive effort to win.

6. Stanford Cardinal (9-1) LW 3 *
If you read my Week 11 Pick Em you would have seen that I didn't think that Stanford would be able to handle Oregon's speed and would lose the game. And sure enough LeMichael James ran rough shot over Stanford and the Ducks drilled the Cardinal 53-30. But the biggest story might have been the 7 turnovers they had. Hard to win games when you turn the ball over that much. This loss eliminates Stanford from the National Title race and from winning a Pac 12 Championship. Tough loss for the Cardinal.

7. Arkansas Razorbacks (9-1) LW 8
With their 49-7 win over Tennessee the Razorbacks improve their record to 9-1 with their only loss coming to Alabama. Taylor Wilson continues to shine throwing for 224 yards and 3 TDs. The offense continues to be explosive as the Razorbacks look to get back to their 2nd straight BCS game. The win also extends their winning streak to 6 games and with game against Mississippi State next week they should make it 7. However their big match up will be against LSU in the last week of the regular season. A win there would make it a three way tie between them, LSU, and Alabama. It could also allow them to sneak into the SEC Title Game.

8. Clemson Tigers (9-1) LW 9
It was a close one, but the Tigers clawed their way back and beat a tough Wake Forrest team 31-28. QB Tajh Boyd threw for 343 yards and 2 TDs, but also threw 2 INTs. With the win Clemson clinches the Atlantic Division and will likely play Virginia Tech in the ACC Title Game. Clemson has to figure out their slow starts are it is going to come back to haunt them later in the season.

9. Boise State Broncos (8-1) LW 5 *
For a second straight year the Broncos have lost a big time game at the end of the season because of a missed FG. Last year it was to Nevada and this year it was to TCU. This is a tough loss because it not only ends their perfect season and a shot at a BCS Bowl, but also gives TCU the conference championship. But all Boise State can do now is win out and hope that they can somehow sneak their way back into a BCS Game. But that doesn't seem likely.

10. Virginia Tech Hokies (9-1) LW 10
In a big game against a tough Georgia Tech team, the Hokies offense finally broke out of their slump and in a big way. QB Logan Thomas threw for 3 TDs while RB David Wilson ran for 175 yards. This is a great sight for Hokie fans who have been waiting for a game like this all season long. Now the Hokies hope that the triple option hang over goes away before a match up against a tough North Carolina team this weekend.

11. Wisconsin Badgers (8-2) LW 11
A game against Minnesota is always a good sign for teams looking to get back on track. Wisconsin coming off a couple of consecutive losses gets a game against a poor team to get their momentum going. Lost in the whole Wisconsin season is the play of RB Monte Ball. Russell Wilson gets all the talk, but it's Ball that is the driving force behind this offense. Against Minnesota, Ball ran for 166 yards and 2 TDs. The Badgers are going to need Ball to keep playing at a high level as they look to get back into the lead in the Leaders Division. But they'll have to win out against Illinois and Penn State to get there.

12. Michigan State Spartans (8-2) LW 12
Michigan State continues to control their own path to the Big 10 Title Game. Right now they have a lead on Nebraska and if they win out they'll be Legends Division Champions. Their win over Iowa was a big step in doing so. The Spartans got their first victory in 7 tries against Iowa and did it convincingly. The offense bounced back and led the way to a 37-21 win. Their next two games should be easier as they face off against Indiana and Northwestern.

13. Houston Cougars (10-0) LW 13
Houston has started 10-0 for the first time in school history. They did it with by both air and ground. Sure Case Keenum threw for 325 yards and 3 TDs, but they also got 207 yards rushing by Charles Sims. Now the Cougars play host to SMU who is off to a 6-3 record and looking like a team that will give Houston all they can handle. This could be a good tune up battle before the Cougars face off against Southern Miss in the Conference USA Title Game.

14
. Georgia Bulldogs (8-2) LW 15
Georgia continues their now 8 game winning steak getting a big victory over Auburn 45-7. The Bulldogs look like a completely different team than the one that lost their first two games of the season. Against Auburn they were lead by QB Aaron Murray who threw for 4 TDs and 224 yards. However the Bulldogs need South Carolina to lose if they want to get to the SEC Title Game.

15. South Carolina Gamecocks (7-2) LW 16
It wasn't pretty, but the Gamecocks got a huge win over Florida. The win keeps the Gamecocks in the drivers seat in the SEC East and a chance at the SEC Title Game. QB Connor Shaw started off slow, but bounced back to rush for 88 yards and 2 TDs. Not what you'd expect out of their QB. But pair that up with a stingy defense and it is a recipe for a win over a struggling Florida team. All the Gamecocks have to do now is beat in state rival Clemson and their are in the SEC Title Game. But that's no easy task.

16. Nebraska Cornhuskers (8-2) LW 17
It took a couple of late 4th quarter defensive stops, but with their victory over Penn State the Huskers get their first win over a top 15 ranked team in over a decade. It wasn't pretty, but a win is a win. The win keeps the Huskers in the hunt for the Legends Division race, but they'll need Michigan State to lose to either Indiana or Northwestern.

17. Michigan Wolverines (8-2) LW 19
After a horrible loss to Iowa, the Wolverines bounced back and got a good win over Illinois. What is very impressive is that Michigan held Illinois offense to only 14 points. If Michigan wants to continue to improve they are going to need the defense to keep getting stops. Next week they host a Nebraska team that is coming off of a win over Penn State. If they are going to beat Nebraska they are going to have to slow down Nebraska's option attack.

18. USC Trojans (8-2) LW 20
USC made little work of Washington easily winning the game 40-17. The Trojans have gotten better each week and are playing some really good football. USC was carried by Curtis McNeal who rushed for 148 yards and a TD. USC now gets an opportunity to face off against an Oregon team that is coming off a huge win over Stanford. The Trojans have the athletes to match up with Oregon and with the way they are playing don't expect a blow out.

19. Kansas State Wildcats (8-2) LW 22
After going 0-2 against the state of Oklahoma, the Wildcats finally got back on the winning path. But it took them 4 OTs to beat Texas A&M. KState QB Colin Klein was all over the place. He threw for 281 yards and rushed for 103. Add in 6 total TDs and you understand how important he is to his team. KState doesn't have a shot to win the Big 12 this year, but if they can beat a struggling Texas team and take care of business they should find themselves in the Cotton Bowl. What a change this program has had in the past three years.

20. Southern Mississippi Golden Eagles (9-1) LW 24
Central Florida was the favorite to win Conference USA before they just fell apart this year. Southern Miss found out that you can't take them for granted and barely got out of the game with a win. Southern Miss had to bat down a two point conversion attempt to get the win. The Golden Eagles can now breathe a little bit easier now with games against UAB and Memphis left on their schedule.

21. TCU Horned Frogs (8-2) LW NR
When TCU lost early games to Baylor and SMU you didn't think it was going to be a good season for the Horned Frogs. However they righted the ship and came into their match up with Boise State with something to prove. And they did what they came to do. Win. It took a ballsy 2 point conversion on their last score to take the lead and force Boise State to go the length of the field to win. And as long as TCU takes care of UNLV and Colorado State, they'll also win the Moutain West Conference Championship.

22. Penn State Nittany Lions (8-2) LW 18 *
It's hard to talk about Penn State with all that has gone on this week. It wasn't surprise that they came out a little sluggish, but they really stepped up their play in the 2nd half and gave themselves an opportunity to win the game at the end. It will be a tough remander of their schedule for Penn State. Not only do they have to deal with all the distractions, but they also have to face Ohio State and Wisconsin. Looks like a 3 game losing streak to me.

23. West Virginia Mountaineers (7-3) LW NR
After losing two games in the past three weeks, the Mountaineers bounced back and got a big win over Big East leader Cincinnati. However if they want to represent the Big East in the BCS, they are going to have to win out and hope that Cincinnati loses a game. Sounds unlikely, but crazier things have happened in the Big East.

24. Notre Dame Fighting Irish (7-3) LW NR
Take away their two early season losses where they turned the ball over religiously in the end zone, and we might have a 9-1 team here. This past week they just manhandled Maryland winning 45-21. RB Jonas Gary ran for 136 yards while WR Michael Floyd had 90 yards receiving. Look for the Irish to continue their winning ways as they face off against Boston College before their annual game against Stanford.

25. Cincinnati Bearcats (7-2) LW 21*
Now that Cincinnati is in the meat of the Big East schedule we are finally going to see who they really are. Against West Virginia they played strong, but couldn't pull out the victory when they needed to. West Virginia got a late FG to win the game and gives the Bearcats their first loss in conference play. Now Cincinnati faces a three game stretch against Rutgers, Syracuse, and UConn. All three are winnable games.

Dropped From Rankings: Georgia Tech, Texas, Auburn

Heisman Watch (Week 11)

1. Andrew Luck QB Stanford
Last Week: 27/41 271 3 TDs 2 INTs vs Oregon (53-30) Next Week: vs Cal
Comments: It wasn't the outcome any Stanford fan wanted. Their big 53-30 loss is a huge blow to a Stanford team that was hoping that they could get to a National Championship Game. Now this loss also complicates the Heisman Race. With a win Luck could have wrapped up the award. However they didn't. But Luck didn't play horrible in the loss. He did throw 2 picks but both were not his fault. He can't control balls going off receivers hands. Luck is still considered the best player in college football and with a muddied field he is still the favorite for the award.

2. Trent Richardson RB Alabama
Last Week: 32 carries 127 yards 1 vs Mississippi State (24-7) Next Week: vs Georgia Southern
Comments: A week after their loss to LSU, Alabama and Trent Richardson looked to bounce back and hopefully somehow sneak their way back to a possible National Title. Richardson also hoped to stay right in the thick of the Heisman Race. Against a tough Mississippi State team, Richardson ran for 127 yards and a TD. Add in Stanford's loss and Luck's not so great game and Richardson is still right in the race. But he'll need two more great games if he wants to be the 2nd Alabama player in school history to win the award.

3. Brandon Weeden QB Oklahoma State
Last Week: 31/37 423 5 TDs vs Texas Tech (66-6) Next Week: @ Iowa State
Comments: Weeden makes his first appearance in the Top 5 this year, but he is a player that you have to consider for this race. He has everything that a Heisman contender needs to win the award. He is playing for a National Title contender and is having one heck of a year. So far this year Weeden has thrown for 3,635 yards and 31 TDs. The offense is one of the best in college football and if the Cowboys can get by Oklahoma the last weekend of the year he could find himself playing against LSU's vaunted defense. I don't know if he can overtake Andrew Luck, but you can't rule it out.

4. Case Keenum QB Houston
Last Week: 22/29 325 yards 3 TDs vs Tulane (73-17) Next Week: vs SMU
Comments: With the blowout win over Tulane we didn't see huge huge numbers for Keenum but that was also because he came out of the game in the 3rd quarter. Houston also had RB Charles Sims go off for 207 rushing yards. However Keenum continues his strong play and 325 yards on 79% passing is astonishing. Look for Keenum to continue to dominant this season as they roll throw SMU and Tulsa before matching up with a tough Southern Miss team. But Keenum will finish this season with all the NCAA records you can have as a QB. It's a great season, but I just don't know how he could get the Heisman over somebody like Trent Richardson or Andrew Luck.

5. Landry Jones QB Oklahoma
Last Week: BYE Next Week: @ Baylor
Comments: Landry Jones enjoyed a week off after their big victory over Texas A&M. This rest comes at the right time when they finish the season with three games over Baylor, Iowa State, and Oklahoma State. Jones may be #5 in these rankings, but he has the opportunity to set himself up for a run at the award. Three wins and three big games could vault him towards the top. But not having a Big 12 Title game really hurts Jones' efforts. But you have to marvel at the season that Jones has put together.

Don't Count Out Yet
Kellen Moore QB Boise State
With their loss to TCU, I don't see anyway that Moore can win the Heisman Trophy. He might be in the top 5 in voting, but he won't win the award. Even if they would have finished the season undefeated, I don't think he would have won the award. It is kind of a shame. Moore has been very good all year and even in their game against TCU he played very well. But Moore can't play defense or kick field goals. Both caused them to loose games at the end of the season the past two years.

Taylor Wilson QB Arkansas
I still can't believe how little attention Arkansas is getting this year. They only have 1 loss and that was to an Alabama team that is considered to be one of the best teams in the nation. Wilson has had a great year and continues to lead this high scoring offense to one of the best records in school history. Wilson probably doesn't have a shot to win the Heisman, but if they win out and beat #1 LSU you never know.

Week 11 Pick Em

Here is a look at the big games this weekend. I've decided not to pick the Penn State/Nebraska game because of all the horrible acts that took place. And I just couldn't really write about it.

Week 11 Picks

#7 Oregon Ducks vs #3 Stanford Cardinals
Much like the LSU/Alabama game last week was the defacto SEC Title Game, this is for the Pac 12 Title Game. The winner will move on to face the representative from the South Division. But that looks to be either Arizona State or UCLA. Both aren't at the same level. This game should be a good battle. A battle between speed and power. Oregon is all based on speed. Their offense is very explosive and thrives off of high tempo and big plays. Stanford is known for their physical play and power running game. Expect a high scoring affair between these two schools. If Stanford is going to win this game, they are going to have to find a way to nueteralize Oregon's speed. Will it happen? We'll have to watch to find out.
Prediction: Oregon 34 Stanford 31

TCU Horned Frogs vs #5 Boise State Broncos
At the beginning of the season we thought this would be a match up of two undefeated teams that would battle for the Moutain West Title and a BCS berth. Now its basically just another game for Boise State in their quest towards the BCS. Now just because TCU has a couple of losses doesn't mean they are a slouch, but they have some issues in the secondary and that doesn't sit well with Kellen Moore across the ball from them. But TCU is going to be ready to show what they got and are going to give Boise State everything.
Prediction: TCU 23 Boise State 31

Texas A&M Aggies vs #22 Kansas State Wildcats
Every week I keep talking about how dangerous A&M is, but each week they continue to lose. Will this be the week that they bounce back and get a much needed win? KState is coming off of two straight losses to Oklahoma and Oklahoma State and looking to show that they are still worth their top 25 rankings. KState is going to look to control the tempo and rely on QB Colin Klein to put up enough points to win the game. But Ryan Tannehill will look to get the Aggies offense back to its explosive output that they had at the beginning of the year.
Prediction: A&M 24 Kansas State 27

#16 Auburn Tigers vs #15 Georgia Bulldogs
What a game we could have here. Georgia started the season 0-2 while Auburn has been up and down all season long. Georgia is in a battle with South Carolina to represent the East in the SEC Title Game while Auburn is looking to improve their record and get a good bowl game. Georgia QB Aaron Murray has continued to grow as a QB and a big reason why they have improved so much. Auburn on the other hand has had little consistency at QB and have played three different QBs this season. If Georgia can stop Auburn RB Micheal Dyer than they can win the game. If not, it could be a long day.
Prediction: Auburn 14 Georgia 24

#12 Michigan State Spartans vs Iowa Hawkeyes
With Iowa's win over Michigan, suddenly the Big 10 Legends Division went from a 3 team race to a 4 team race. Both teams here can control their fate by winning the remainder of their games. Michigan State hasn't been playing the greatest lately. They got dominated at Nebraska and then struggled with Minnesota. Iowa lost to Minnesota, but then took care of Michigan State. Last year Iowa was Michigan State's only loss. Iowa is also 4-1 against Michigan State in their last 5 games. Add in that Michigan State has struggled on the road lately and this is prime for an upset. But it's not like Iowa has been a juggernaut this year.
Prediction: Michigan State 16 Iowa 17

West Virginia Mountaineers vs #21 Cincinnati Bengals
At the beginning of the season it looked like West Virginia was the class of the Big East and Cincinnati was going to face a second straight year the bottom of the conference. However it has been West Virginia struggling the past couple of weeks, while Cincinnati only has one loss. But Cincinnati's schedule has been pretty easy so far and now they have to face off against the better teams in the conference. West Virginia has lost two games in the past three weeks, but they are still a good team with a very good offense. With this game we'll see how good Cincinnati really is.
Prediction: West Virginia 28 Cincinnati 20

Standings
This past weekend it was a solid week where I had a chance to go 6-0. However Nebraska decided to not show up and Alabama's kicker did the same. However I did manage to go 4-2 and improve to a 15-8 record for the year.

NCAA Top 25 (Week 10)

1. LSU Tigers (9-0) LW 1
It wasn't quite "Game of the Century" nor was it pretty, but LSU was able to go into Tuscaloosa and come out with the victory. Now all the Tigers have to do is keep their focus and they'll end up in the National Title Game. Next week should be a cake walk when they host Western Kentucky. But the Arkansas game in the last week of the season should be a good one.

2. Oklahoma State Cowboys (9-0) LW 3
It wasn't the blowout we expected, but it doesn't matter much because they won the game. Brandon Weeden continues to play at a high level, throwing for a school record 502 yards. We know that the offense is going to put up numbers, but if they want to beat Oklahoma and make it to the National Title game, they are going to have to play much better defense than they did this Saturday. They can't take next week off because they'll be traveling to Texas Tech who knocked off Oklahoma a couple of weeks ago.

3. Stanford Cardinal (9-0) LW 4
Stanford did what they needed to do against Oregon State. Win easily. Now we have the game we've been waiting for all season long. Their game against Oregon doesn't have the same feel since Oregon has 1 loss already. But this game should decide who wins the Pac 12. If Stanford is able to win this game, they can hold out hope for a possible National Title Game appearance, but a loss would mean no Pac 12 Title.

4. Alabama Crimson Tide (8-1) LW 2
All Alabama needed was 1 TD and they would have probably won the game and be the #1 ranked team in the nation right now. Heck all they needed was their kicker to make 1 of his 3 missed FGs and they might have won it. Now they are sitting on the outside looking in and have to hope that LSU loses the SEC Title Game and Oklahoma State and Stanford to also lose games so they can sneak into the National Ttile.

5. Boise State Broncos (8-0) LW 5
After a week off, the Boise State Broncos made little work with UNLV and are now set up to face new conference rival TCU. This was once thought to be a chance for Boise State to win a huge game at the end of the season that would help vault them into possibly a National Championship Game. But even though they aren't the team we thought they'd be, it still is a recognizable name. Look for Boise State to be BCS bound, just not the big one.

6. Oklahoma Sooners (8-1) LW 6
Just think, if they didn't lose to Texas Tech it would be the Sooners sitting at #2 and not their in-state rival. However all Oklahoma can do now is keep winning and hope that teams ahead of them lose and they can slide back into contention. But they'll have to do that without their best offensive weapon Ryan Broyles, who tore his ACL in their win against Texas A&M. Luckily their deep at WR and have a couple of games to figure it out before they face off against Oklahoma State.

7. Oregon Ducks (8-1) LW 7
Oregon is just not the same team that we've seen the past couple of years. Injuries have taken a toll or maybe teams are starting to understand their offense better. But either way, they aren't putting those high numbers up like they did last year. But that can all be forgotten if Oregon can knock off Stanford this Saturday. A win will get everybody buzzing about the Ducks again and they could shoot up the boards as one of the best 1 loss teams.

8. Arkansas Razorbacks (8-1) LW 9
Don't know if you knew it, but besides the LSU/Alabama game there was another match up of two top 10 ranked teams. Arkansas hosted South Carolina. But lost in all the so called "Game of the Century" talk, Arkansas on the back of QB Taylor Wilson rolled to a 16 point victory. Arkansas continues to roll until they match up against #1 LSU the last weekend of the regular season. Even LSU's top ranked defense will have trouble with this passing attack.

9. Clemson Tigers (8-1) LW 11
After their disappointing loss to Georgia Tech, the Tigers had to sit through a bye week and think about it even more. However the week off also gave them the opprotunity to fix their slow starting offense that has caused them to have to play from behind multiple weeks. Luckily Clemson faces off against a Wake Forrest team that shouldn't pose too tough of a game.

10. Virginia Tech Hokies (8-1) LW 12
Virginia Tech might just be the most ignored 1 loss team in college football right now. Nobody is talking about them, but they just keep winning. This past week they had a bye and it couldn't have come at a better time. Because they have to face off against Georgia Tech and their triple option offense on a Thursday night. That extra time should allow DC Bud Foster ample time to game plan against Paul Johnson's offense and allow the Hokies to move to 9-1.

11. Wisconsin Badgers (7-2) LW 13
Coming off of two straight losses, a game against Purdue was exactly what the doctor ordered. Monte Ball ran like a beast gaining 223 yards and 3 TDs and just couldn't be stopped. Look for next week to be much the same as the Badgers face off against an improving Minnesota team, but who is still not at the same level as Wisconsin.

12. Michigan State Spartans (7-2) LW 14
A week after dropping a game to Nebraska, the Spartans were in a dog fight with the most unlikely of opponents. Minnesota. The Spartans had to get a defensive stop on their own half of the field to avoid getting upset by a team that many considered to be the worst BCS team in college football. However a win is a win and that is what the Spartans got. They also were able to get a leg back up in the Legends Divison with Nebraska's loss to Northwestern. Now all the Spartans have to do is win out and they will be in Indianapolis for the Big 10 Title Game.

13. Houston Cougars (9-0) LW 16
Case Keenum didn't break anymore NCAA records, but the Cougars continued their dominance of Conference USA with a 56-13 blowout of UAB. Keenum continues to have this offense rolling and is on pace to have the Cougars undefeated and playing for a CUSA Title. This next week they face off against a Tulane team that has an interim HC and shouldn't provide much of a challenge. But their game against SMU should be a good indicator of how good they really are.

14. Auburn Tigers (6-3) LW 18
The Tigers enjoyed a nice week off before their big game against Georgia this weekend. Auburn have exceeded my expectations this year and have won games that I thought they'd wouldn't have won. Now Auburn doesn't have a shot at the SEC Title Game, but they have a chance to really finish the season with games against Georgia and Alabama left. This week they face off against a hot Georgia team.

15. Georgia Bulldogs (7-2) LW 19
Georgia took a week off from the rugged SEC and gave a beat down to New Mexico State, winning 63-16. What a turnaround we have seen with Georgia. They went from 0-2 and Mark Richt's job on the line, to 7 straight wins and a possible berth in the SEC Title Game. This weekend the Bulldogs face off against an Auburn team that is very dangerous.

16. South Carolina Gamecocks (7-2) LW 10
It was only a matter of time before the loss of Marcus Lattimore caught up with South Carolina. Without their star RB the Gamecocks were one dimensional on offense and just couldn't keep up with Arkansas' high powered offense. South Carolina gets a break this weekend when they face off against a struggling Florida team. But they are going to have to figure out their new plan of attack if they still want to stay alive in the race for the SEC East Title.

17. Nebraska Cornhuskers (7-2) LW 8
Fresh off their big win against Michigan State, the Huskers dropped the ball and lost to a Northwestern team that they should have beaten easily. I don't believe Nebraska is a bad team but they can't afford to take teams lightly. This weekend they face off against a Penn State team that has to be distracted with all that is going on. But Nebraska should be focused as they look to get back on track and stay in the Legends Race.

18. Penn State Nittany Lions (8-1) LW 21
Besides the victims and their families, the people that I feel the worst for is the current Penn State players who did nothing wrong and have to deal with the fallout of this. They were in the mist of a good season and have a tough three teams to end the season. It was going to be tough to win out, but I don't see it happening this week. This whole situation is just flat out awful.

19. Michigan Wolverines (7-2) LW 15
Sitting with only 1 loss in the conference, the Wolverines needed to win out and hope that Michigan State would lose and they could represent the Legends Division in the Big 10 Title Game. However that doesn't seem to likely after they lost to an Iowa team that just lost to Minnesota. Now Michigan is going to need a lot of help if they want to make it. But their defense is really going to need to step up against an Illinois offense that can be very explosive.

20. USC Trojans (7-2) LW 23
USC bounced back after their 3 OT loss to Stanford with a beat down of Pac 12 newbie Colorado 42-17. USC continues to get better as the season goes forward and its too bad that they can't play in the conference championship game because they might have a shot at winning it. This week they face off against a Washington team that hasn't had a big win this season but is much improved.

21. Cincinnati Bearcats (7-1) LW 24
Who would have thought that it would be Cincinnati leading the Big East race and undefeated in the conference. The same team that only won 4 games last year. But Cincinnati's winning streak is a little flawed. They still haven't played the elite (lol...sorry) Big East schools and might not make it through unscathed. But for now they are the leaders of the pack.

22. Kansas State Wildcats (7-2) LW 20
I didn't drop KState too far because I never really ranked them that high to begin with. Even after racing off to a 7-0 record. But those wins were all against the bottom of the Big 12. Against Oklahoma they got drilled, and against Oklahoma State they showed that they might not be at the same level as Okie State, but they are still a quality team. However they still have games against Texas A&M and Texas left. Both teams aren't having great seasons but are very dangerous and are looking to turn their seasons around.

23. Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets (7-2) LW 25
After scoring a huge upset over previously undefeated Clemson the Yellow Jackets enjoyed a week off before they face off against Coastal Division foe Virginia Tech. If Georgia Tech is able to beat VaTech they would be in the drivers seat to make it to the ACC Title Game. That would be a great deal after they dropped two straight games to Virginia and Miami.

24. Southern Mississippi Golden Eagles (8-1) LW NR
Southern Miss makes their first appearance in the rankings in the middle of a 7 game winning streak. This weekend the Golden Eagles face off against a Central Florida team that was once thought to make a run at an undefeated season. So Southern Miss can't take them lightly, but it looks like they'll go into the CUSA Title Game against Houston with a 11-1 record.

25. Texas Longhorns (6-2) LW NR
We are really going to see what type of team Texas is with their remaining four games. They have to still play Kansas State, Baylor, Texas A&M, and Missouri. All teams that they should be able to beat, but they could lose to each team too. But the Longhorns are bowl eligible which is an improvement over last year.

Dropped From Rankings: Arizona State, West Virginia

Heisman Watch (Week 10)

1. Andrew Luck QB Stanford
Last Week: 20/30 206 yards 3 TDs 1 INT vs Oregon State (38-13) Next Week: vs Oregon
Comments: Another standard day for Andrew Luck and the Stanford Cardinal. In their easy win over Oregon State, Luck threw for over 200 yards and 3 TDs. It wasn't a great statistical game, but Luck continues to guide the Cardinal to an impressive season so far. However this weekend Stanford will be matched up against their toughest opponent yet, Oregon. If Luck can lead the Cardinal to a huge win, he could seal his fate as a Heisman winner. A loss to the Ducks and Heisman race could get a lot muddier.

2. Trent Richardson RB Alabama
Last Week: 23 carries 89 yards 5 catches 80 yards against LSU (6-9) Next Week: @ Mississippi State
Comments: 169 yards against one of the best defenses in the nation isn't a bad day. But when you can't find the end zone and lose one of the biggest games of the year, it's not that great. This loss hurts Richardson's Heisman stock on two different levels. First they lose the game and Richardson doesn't have a memorable game. Second, unless LSU collapses Richardson won't have the SEC Title Game to impress Heisman voters one last time. Now he isn't out of the running for the Heisman yet, but the gap between him and Andrew Luck just got a little bit bigger.

3. Landry Jones QB Oklahoma
Last Week: 18/38 255 2 TDs vs Texas A&M (41-25) Next Week: @ Baylor
Comments: Landry Jones had a good game throwing for 255 yards and 2 TDs in a blowout win against a dangerous Texas A&M team. Jones continues to put up big time numbers and get big wins for a team that is trying to show everybody that they are not the team that lost to Texas Tech. His play has him hanging around in the race for the Heisman Trophy, but is going to need Luck and Richardson to fall off if he wants to win the award. A big win against Oklahoma State in a couple of weeks would do wonders.

4. Kellen Moore QB Boise State
Last Week: 18/31 219 5 TDs vs UNLV (48-21) Next Week: vs TCU
Comments: After a week off Kellen Moore picked up right where he was before. "The Surgeon" carved up the Runnin Rebals for 219 yards and 5 TDs. Moore hasn't had a lot of Heisman hype this season, but a big game this upcoming week against TCU could really do something for that. TCU isn't the same team we saw last year, but they do only have 2 losses and bring some defensive credibility.

5. Case Keenum QB Houston
Last Week: 39/44 407 yards 2 TDs 2 rushing TDs vs UAB (56-13) Next Week: @Tulane
Comments: He didn't set any NCAA records in this game, but Case Keenum had another amazing game for the undefeated Cougars. Completing 88% of his passes for 407 yards and 2 TDs is pretty impressive. But don't forget that he ran for two TDs also. I don't know if Keenum can win the Heisman playing in Conference USA, but his play is making people take a second look. But if Houston can win out (which they should) and he can wow Heisman voters in the Conference USA Championship Game, he might have an outside shot. Crazier things have happened.

Don't Count Out Yet

Brandon Weeden QB Oklahoma State
With all the teams around them losing, Okie State has moved into the #2 spot and have an inside track to a National Title appearance. Before the season started the Heisman talk on their team was about Justin Blackmon. However it has been the play of QB Brandon Weeden. Against Kansas State Weeden set a school record with 502 yards and 4 TDs. If Weeden has a big game and a win over Oklahoma the last week of the year, he might be able to sneak into the discussion.

Taylor Wilson QB Arkansas
All the talk in the SEC has been about LSU and Alabama, but a team that people need to check out is Arkansas. Quietly the Razorbacks are a 1 loss team (LSU) and playing some very good football. A big part of that has been Taylor Wilson who is running Bobby Petrino's offense magically. Against South Carolina, Wilson threw for 299 yards and 4 TDs. But playing in the SEC West with Alabama and LSU makes it hard for them to get a lot of attention. But a win over Alabama would sure get him a lot of attention.

Week 10 Pick Em

If you watch ESPN you would think that the only game that was on this weekend is the LSU/Alabama game. However there are some other good games this weekend that will help decide a lot of conference championships and impact the National Title race.

Week 10 Games

#20 Kansas State Wildcats vs #3 Oklahoma State Cowboys
Kansas State (who was exposed last week) doesn't get much of a break after facing Oklahoma last week and now facing Oklahoma State. KState had trouble with Oklahoma's offense, and the Cowboys is even better. If the Wildcats want to have a chance to win this game, they are going to have to play keep away. Because if they have to pass the ball, they are going to struggle. But that's easier said than done. Okie State should win this game going away.
Prediction: Kansas State 24 Oklahoma State 48

Northwestern Wildcats vs #8 Nebraska Cornhuskers
Nebraska was able to take advantage of a Michigan State team that was coming off two big wins.. But could they face the same fate to a pesky Northwestern team? I tend to think no. Northwestern isn't the same team that many thought they would be at the beginning of the season. And Dan Persa isn't the same QB since the Achilles injury. Add in that Nebraska runs a physical running offense that plays into Northwestern's weakness on defense. Northwestern will score on Nebraska, but this game should be one sided.
Prediction: Northwestern 21 Nebraska 42

Texas A&M Aggies vs #6 Oklahoma Sooners
If Texas A&M could hold onto a 2nd half lead, they very well could be undefeated and this game would be a match up of top 10 ranked teams. Instead they are 5-3 and facing an Oklahoma team that just blew out previously undefeated Kansas State. This should be a shoot out between two offenses that have a lot of fire power. You'd think that Oklahoma would have a big advantage here, but their defense is inconsistent and allowed Texas Tech to put up points and yards on them. The key is whichever team's defense decides to show up will determine the winner.
Prediction: A&M 31 Oklahoma 45

#10 South Carolina Gamecocks vs #9 Arkansas Razorbacks
Everybody is talking about LSU vs Alabama, and rightfully so. But nobody is talking about this game which features two top 10 ranked teams. South Carolina is looking to get back to their 2nd straight SEC Title Game, while Arkansas is hoping to still somehow sneak their way in. It is important for South Carolina that they get their star WR Alshon Jeffery back into the offense especially since they don't have Marcus Lattimore the rest of the season. But I'm really looking forward to seeing Arkansas' high powered offense matching up against South Carolina's defense that is loaded with talent. Whoever wins that battle will win the game.
Prediction: South Carolina 17 Arkansas 28

#7 Oregon Ducks vs Washington Huskies
Washington is a vastly improved team and their only losses are to #8 Nebraska and #4 Stanford. This is the same team that went win less a couple of years ago. They are much improved team that is relying on underrated RB Chris Polk and QB Keith Price. This is a popular upset pick for some, but I don't know if I can buy it yet. Oregon isn't the same team that went to the National Title game last year. Against Washington State they struggled for most of the first half before running up the score. If Washington can limit Oregon's big plays they should have a chance. But they just don't have the depth they need hang with this Ducks team.
Prediction: Oregon 49 Washington 28

#1 LSU Tigers vs #2 Alabama Crimson Tide
This has to be one of the most hyped games we've seen in the past 10 years. The thing is that it's justifiable. LSU and Alabama are clearly the two best teams and nobody else is really that close. The winner of this game is basically a shoe in for the National Title Game. Heck their is a chance that they could get a rematch in the National Title Game. This game showcases the two best defenses in the Nation. LSU defense is built on speed and they fly to the ball. Alabama's defense is full of 1st round NFL Draft talent that is very experience and is always at the right spot at the right time. The keys to this game are the two offenses. Whichever teams offense has a better game could be the team that wins. LSU has the more experienced QB, but Alabama has the best offensive player in Trent Richardson. Also don't forget this game is in Tuscaloosa. This game should be a dozy.
Prediction: LSU 20 Alabama 24

Standings
Last week I went 3-2 bringing my season record to 11-6. The two games I missed on were Nebraska upsetting Michigan State and Clemson getting stoned by Georgia Tech.
